Frequently Asked Questions

What is Cadet AI?
Cadet AI is a study-aid mobile app for UK Army Cadet Force (ACF) and Combined Cadet Force (CCF) cadets. It combines TANGO — an AI training assistant that answers from official MOD Army Cadet pamphlets and cites its sources — with quizzes, progression tracking, badges and awards, to help you learn the material and climb the ranks.
Who is it for?
It's built for cadets aged 13 and over in the ACF and CCF who want to excel in their training. It's also useful for parents and guardians who want reassurance about safety and privacy, and for detachment and section staff supporting cadets' revision — every answer points straight back to the official pamphlets. Under-13s cannot create an account.
Is this an official ACF, CCF or MOD app?
No. Cadet AI is an independent study aid. It is not an official MOD, Army Cadet Force, Combined Cadet Force or Cadet Forces product, and it is not endorsed by them. It simply helps cadets revise using publicly available official training pamphlets.
Can I trust the answers TANGO gives?
TANGO answers are grounded in official MOD Army Cadet training pamphlets and cite their sources, so you can check the reference yourself. If it can't find a match in the pamphlets, it tells you rather than making something up. It's designed to give you the real material — but it's a study aid, so always follow the guidance of your unit staff for assessments.
Does it cost money?
Cadet AI is coming soon to Google Play. We'll confirm full pricing details at launch. What we can promise now is that there are no ads in the app, no third-party analytics trackers, and we never sell your data. For the most up-to-date details, watch the Google Play listing once it goes live.
Is my data safe? What about privacy?
Privacy comes as standard. Cadet AI runs no ads and no third-party analytics trackers, and we never sell your data. Under-13s cannot create an account. National and unit leaderboards are opt-in and off by default, so you're never listed unless you choose to be. You can read the full privacy policy here on the site.
When does it launch, and is there an iPhone version?
Cadet AI is an Android app, coming soon to Google Play — it isn't released yet. There is no iOS (iPhone or iPad) version yet. Keep an eye on Google Play to be among the first to download it when it goes live.
What subjects and levels does it cover?
Quizzes span ten real cadet subjects — Drill & Turnout, Fieldcraft & Tactics, First Aid, Navigation, Shooting, Skill at Arms, Military Knowledge, Communications & IT, Keeping Active and Community Engagement — at star levels from Basic through 4-Star, mapped to the Army Proficiency Certificate (APC) syllabus. There's also a Quick Reference and drill practice.
How does progression work?
You earn XP from quizzes, climb levels and military ranks, and unlock star-level awards from Basic to 4-Star. Your progress is tracked against the APC syllabus. Along the way you unlock 100+ badges and 35 real-world-style awards, keep daily streaks, take the daily challenge, and collect cosmetics for your TANGO — and you can retry quizzes any time to push your score higher.
Are the leaderboards compulsory?
Not at all. National and unit leaderboards are completely opt-in and turned off by default. You only appear if you choose to take part, so you can rank up purely for yourself if you prefer.
